VA Claims and Estate Planning for Eligible Colorado Officers
We are proud to serve eligible members of the Fraternal Order of Police in Colorado through a dedicated legal services partnership.
Under this agreement, qualifying FOP members who participate in the off-duty legal plan are entitled to VA benefits representation and basic estate planning services at no cost to them. Legal fees for covered services are paid directly by the FOP pursuant to the plan.
This page explains eligibility, covered services, and how to apply.
Who This Program Is For
This program is available to:
- Sworn law enforcement officers in Colorado
- Who are active, eligible members of the FOP
- And who participate in the FOP off-duty legal plan
If you meet these criteria, you may qualify for VA disability claims assistance and estate planning services without out-of-pocket legal fees.

VA Disability Claims for Veteran Police Officers
Many law enforcement officers continue to serve their communities while living with service-connected conditions from prior military service. VA disability claims are often delayed, denied, or underrated due to incomplete records, inadequate examinations, or misapplication of VA regulations.
Through this FOP partnership, eligible members may receive legal assistance with VA benefits matters, including:
- VA disability claims and appeals
- Rating increases and corrections
- TDIU (unemployability) claims
- Claims involving PTSD, TBI, migraines, hearing loss, and other service-connected conditions
- Appeals of denied or improperly decided claims
Representation is provided by VA-accredited attorneys with experience in both military service and administrative law. Covered services are handled pursuant to the terms of the FOP plan.
How Legal Fees Are Handled
For eligible FOP members:
- The FOP covers the cost of approved legal services
- Members do not pay hourly fees for covered VA claims work
- There is no retainer required for covered services
- Representation is subject to eligibility verification and scope review
Any services outside the scope of the FOP agreement will be clearly identified in advance, and no work will proceed without member consent.

Estate Planning Services: Wills for Members and Spouses
In addition to VA claims representation, this program provides eligible FOP members with access to basic estate planning services.
Covered services include:
- Preparation of a will for the FOP member
- Preparation of a will for the member’s spouse
These documents are designed to ensure clarity, protection, and peace of mind for law enforcement families. Estate planning services are provided as part of the FOP benefit and are covered under the plan.
